With the High School re-scheduling last minute games we have had this Wednesday & Thursday hours taken away for practice in regards to High School games at the rink. I just received the final schedule for the entire High School season. There could be changes as I was told due to High School cancellation of games on bad weather. We will make every effort to let coaches, parents and players aware of the practice changes. There will be weeks when some teams will have one practice per week.

Unfortunately at this time we don't have the numbers in order to have a Sixth team participate in this years Exchange Program. NOVEMBER 15th 2009
Well what a season it has been for the Comet Midget A team. It has been an interesting couple of weeks for the Midget A team. Starting back 2 weeks ago as they iced the Valley League Championship with back to back wins over Everett / Revere & MASCO to capute the Valley League White title in the American Division. The Midgets were all geared up and ready to go for the State Tournament in Saugus. But after a decision from District II to have Lynn forefeit there first game of the tournament due to the fact an appeal with the Valley League on a terrible decision by officials to suspend all players for the following game after an altercation with the Everett / Revere hockey team. At this point the Valley League has yet to suspend any Everett / Revere player or the goalie for Everett / Revere who started the alltercation by jumping off the bench at the end of the game to skate over to a Lynn player and blind side him with two hands to the head resulting in a serious injury. The Midget A team took out there revenge on King Phillip / Walpole as they controlled the entire game from start to finish with a 5 - 2 victory. In the night cap the Midget A team took on a tough Belmont team that resulted in a 3 - 2 loss to end there run for the State Title. Coach Dogga and the entire Midget A team had a great season and have one remaining game left against MASCO on November 22nd. Congratulations on a great season.

Midget State Tournament
The Lynn Youth Hockey Board and Membership would like to wish the Midget A team luck in the quest for the State Tournament this upcoming weekend at Hockey Town in Saugus. Please come support Lynn Youth Hockey Friday night 6:20 PM at Hockey Town on Route 1 in Saugus. The top 12 teams in the State will be competing for bragging rights as Massachusetts State Champions. The level of play is well worth the short drive to Hockey Town this weekend. The Midget A team will also play two additional games on Saturday with the Semi-finals and Finals taking place on Sunday at Hockey Town.

Lynn Youth Hockey Trivia Question
This is one I had to go back in the archives to confirm. But the goal was scored from behind his own net as he was trying to ice the puck in a game. If you answered Coach Jim Stafford you were correct. Our Jimmy has done it all, not just only the longest goal in LYH history but also played on the only unbeaten Boys St Mary's High School Hockey Team. We are still trying to get the facts if Coach Stafford was a player or water boy and those facts will need to be validated.

Weekend Roundup
It was another strong weekend for the Lynn Comets in the Valley League. The Comets went 5-4-2 to increase the overall record in the Valley League to 41-20-4. The Lynn Youth Hockey programs main focus is to help develop each players hockey awarness, skating and development. With the coaches & players working hard at practice & skills the final results are showing across the board on every team. The program still has the Midget A, Bantam B, Pee Wee B and Mite A teams unbeaten in Valley League play. This upcoming week will be the last week of parity and you will notice your teams may move up or down within the Valley League Divisions.

Boucherville Player Participation
In order for the Lynn Youth Hockey organization to make a valid decision on teams, players and total participation we are looking for everyone to either give their coach a yes or no on participating on the Boucherville Exchange. I do want to reiterate that this exchange will require hosting other players from Hockey Boucherville January 8th & 9th. Each family will be matched up with two players for one night maybe two nights. Then the reverse would take place in March when we travel to Boucherville. There would be 2 Comet teammates staying with the same Boucherville players that stayed with them in January. In order to make sense on what teams, players and coaches travel this year we will need to get confirmation either way on a yes or no from all parents at the Squirt to Bantam levels.
Thanks

Boucherville Exchange
All players & parents please contact your head coach if you are interested in having your son/daughter participate in the Boucherville Exchange. Remember this will require hosting a player or two at your home for a weekend night along with having your son/daughter stay with the same players and family while we travel to Boucherville on March 26th, 27th and 28th. The estimated cost per person (includes players) will be $210-$220 double occupancy on rooms. This could be less if we take part in a few fundraising events to cut the cost. This will include traveling to Boucherville by bus, 2 nights hotel (double occupancy a minimum), 2 brunches, 1 Saturday night buffett dinner, taxes, tolls and transportation to all games during the weekend.

Midget A's State Tournament Bound
A huge congratulations go out to the Lynn Comet Midget A team who will now compete for the State Title in November. No other team in District 2 wanted to face off with the high flying Midget A team. This a great opportunity for the Lynn Comets to face off against the best High School Midget Team's in the State of Massachusetts. Coach Dogga is doing a great job with the kids and has the team playing some physical hockey and great team work. If you see Coach Dogga and the Midget A players around the rink please give them a nice needed congratulations. I highly recommend watching the Midget A team play Tuesday night at the Merrimack rink at 9:10 as they take on MASCOin a Valley League Game.

Thanks
I would like to send a big thank you out for all the parents, coaches and players who participated in our fundraising event. I have to be honest it was a little dissapointing to see the small amount of parents that helped out this year. We had an opportunity to raise a large amount of money but didn't succeed in this event. This event didn't cost any family additional money just 1 1/2 or 2 hours of your time on Saturday or Friday. If we keep the participation low on the rest of our fundraising events we are looking at a large increase on assessments next year with the cost of ice going up again.
Thanks

Game Results
It was a great start to the 2009-2010 season. The Lynn Comet travel teams went 8 and 3 on the first weekend of the season. With two of the losses being the difference of one goal each and another game being the difference of 2 goals. This is a great start for the program with week two of the season coming up this weekend. How To View & Print the Practice Schedule:
Go to the calendar and click on the month. Once you click on the month that entire month's practices and events are posted. You can do one or two things. You can click on the word practice or skills and it will bring up the times and team that are scheduled to practice. After clicking on the calendar you can click on the word list. On each day you would need to click on "more information". This will expand the day to read the event of the day. You can do this for the week or month and print out.
Also, please remember the practice schedule will change from time to time depending on the Valley League Game schedules. Please check the website for updates or communicate with your coach. We are also looking to see how we can make the calendar a little more user friendly so please be patient.

CHANGE IN BANTAM B COACHING STAFF:
There has been a change in coaching staff for the Bantam B team. Bob Powell is going to stay on as Assistant Coach to the Bantam B team. Bob has decided to step down as the Head Coach due to the fact he will not have the amount of time to dedicate to a full-season this year. We appreciate Bob's dedication over the years and still look forward in having him assistant with the Bantam B team going forward.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW:
Based upon a sign-in sheet made available to the membership, 27 parents and board members participated in the meeting which was held at the Hibernian Club in Lynn on May 31, 2009. Al Donovan, as President presided over the meeting and presented a Power Point presentation summarizing the years accomplishments. The presentation touched on Boucherville, membership numbers, uniform and logo change, fund raising and financials as well as several other topics. After the presentation, the Board opended the meeting to questions. During the meeting, three motions were made by member parents and votes were taken on all three motions. Each of the motions passed by majority. The motions that passed are listed below.
MOTIONS MADE & VOTED BY THE MEMBERS (5-31-2009)
1) A motion was made to end any process that grandfathers a child onto a team becasue they made the team in a previous year. The fact that you played as an A player one year does not in any way guarantee the player the slot for the following year. Each year there will be a clean slate and past placement should not be a defining attribute for new team selection. This motion passed by majority vote.
2) A motion was made that after team selections, the names of the players need only be posted on the website rather than coaches calling. The purpose of this motion was to streamline the selection process and allow the players to know sooner which team they will be playing on. This motion passed by majority vote.
3) There were discussions about having some of the Lynn B teams play in a new league being formed. The membership voted by majority that this would not be pursued for the upcoming year.
